East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) Construction
The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) is a 1,443-kmlong onshore crude‑oil export system carrying stabilized crude from Uganda to the marine storage & export terminal at Chongoleani, Tanga (Tanzania).
The purpose of the project is providing the pipeline transport, storage and export infrastructure needed to move heavy/waxy crude from upstream CPFs through the feeder/pipeline system to the coast, meeting safety, environmental and operational requirements.
Key Scope Elements
- ROW / ATWS staking and centre‑line marking
- Vegetation clearing: tree felling (stump removal, timber cut/evacuation) and bush clearing across full ROW
- Topsoil stripping, separation, protection and stockpiling (topsoil conservation)
- Erosion & sediment control and temporary protection (silt traps, geotextile, flumes/pipe crossings, diversion channels, shoring)
- Subgrade preparation: grading, leveling and compaction to produce a stable working surface for heavy plant
- Temporary access: build/maintain temporary access roads, passing lanes, traffic control and vehicle management
- Crossings and hydraulics: temporary/ permanent culverts, open‑cut road crossings and reinstatement, drainage channels and sumps
- Temporary works for water management (temporary access channels, diversion channels) and dewatering where required
- Service protection & verification: identify/mark/protect overhead lines and locate/mark underground utilities; special markers for service crossings
- Temporary site facilities and site security: site offices, portable toilets, welfare, security provision, IVMS on vehicles
